CHRISTIAN FRASER
Award-winning Journalist and Presenter
Christian is a British writer, journalist and broadcaster, specialising in news and current affairs.
A long time foreign correspondent for the BBC based in Nairobi, Rome, Cairo, and Paris, he is now a News Anchor in London, presenting on major international stories.
Christian is a frequent anchor for Newsnight, the flagship current affairs programme on BBC2, and The Context - with Christian Fraser - the new show he anchors from London - discusses the biggest international stories of the day.
NEWS ANCHOR
After 10 years as a foreign correspondent, Christian returned to London to present BBC News.
From Monday to Thursday he anchors the evening show The Context - with Christian Fraser - which airs on both BBC World News and the BBC News Channel. Christian also frequently anchors the flagship current affairs programme Newsnight on BBC2.
Christian has presented BBC Breakfast from Salford and the evening BBC News bulletins on BBC1, and previously co-hosted the extremely successful Beyond 100 Days with Katty Kay.


FOREIGN CORRESPONDENT
Christian's first overseas broadcast was from the ruins of One World Trade Center immediately following the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
2001
World Trade Center attacks 9/11.
2002 - 2004
War reporting in Afghanistan and Iraq, spending several months in Baghdad reporting on the transition.
2004
Embedded with the Welsh Guards in Al Amarah where British forces were battling the insurgency of Muqtada al-Sadr.
2005
Posted to Nairobi; reported on the wars in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and South Sudan.
2006
Rome Correspondent, Rome
During this time, reported on the war in Lebanon and in 2007 covered the murder of Meredith Kercher and the trial of Amanda Knox in Italy.
2007 - 2010
Middle East Correspondent, Cairo
Christian was the only British correspondent inside Gaza in 2007 during the Israeli invasion, known as Operation Cast Lead. He spent a week in the Palestinian city of Rafah as the Israelis dismantled the tunnels. In 2010 he covered the revolution in Egypt for BBC TV.



2010
Paris Correspondent, Paris
2011
Reported on the war in Libya, first from rebel-held Benghazi and then from Tripoli as the war dragged on.
2014
Returned to London as the BBC News Channel's Senior News Correspondent.
Reported from Crimea during the Russian takeover.
2015/16
Presented live coverage of the unfolding terrorist attacks in France and Belgium.
AWARDS
2005 Sony Radio Award – Gold
In 2005 Christian collected Gold at the Sony Radio Awards for BBC Radio Five Live's rolling coverage of the Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami, which he had presented through the night.
2006 Sony Radio Awards Journalist of the Year
Nominated in the News Journalist of the Year category at the Sony Radio Awards.
2007 Prix Bayeux
At the Prix Bayeux in 2007 Christian was recognised in the international radio category for his reports on child casualties in Gaza.
